Hello And Welcome to Signsource

We are a bi-lingual, family-owned business based in Belfast, Northern Ireland and are passionate about making British Sign Language (BSL) easy, accessible and affordable to all.

My name is Anthony Sinclair and I’ve been profoundly deaf since birth. I’m a qualified teacher and founder of the business which delivers teaching in deaf awareness and British Sign Language throughout the UK.

Tailored for workplaces, primary and secondary education, sport and community settings and more, Sign Source can be used in groups or by individuals to learn the vocabulary and phrases needed to engage with deaf people effectively.

Deaf awareness is a major component of all our resources which include the recommended adjustments required to make environments user friendly and solutions for challenges that can be experienced by deaf people.

Message us today to find out how our training can equip your school, company and teams with the right tools and knowledge to make workplace, education and social environments better for deaf people.

About us

Sign Source is a family affair. It was founded by Anthony Sinclair, who has been profoundly deaf since birth. He is a qualified and highly experienced teacher and holds a PGCE in teaching BSL. His wife Kristina works as a sign language interpreter and their three children have also learned the ‘beautiful language’ since birth.

As a bi-lingual, bimodal, bicultural family their business is based on a belief that while people can and should learn sign language, deaf people can’t learn to hear.

Sign Source would love to see BSL introduced into the school curriculum at a very young age and has ambitions to make this a reality.

Hear from our clients

Hi Anthony, we haven’t met but since finding you on Facebook, we’ve been doing our best to learn BSL for our deaf son. Yesterday we were in a café and the waitress knew sign language. She told us she did her Level 1 with you through her school. She was amazing and chatted to us in sign language and included our son in everything. She even took his order directly from him. She made our day. Thank you for all you do. You are a wonderful role model and an inspiration.
A huge thank you to Anthony Sinclair from Sign Source who ran a fantastic and really insightful introduction to Sign Language class for MCS Group. We learned some basic sign language including finger spelling, basic introductions and greetings and learned a little bit about deaf culture and the history of BSL. As someone with no prior knowledge of sign language, this was genuinely such a beneficial session. While I definitely have a long way to go, I learned so much from this short session and hope to continue my awareness and knowledge of sign language and inclusion.

We are so delighted to hear of audiences availing of our Signed and Captioned performances. As we work to further our mission of being a playhouse for all, we are proud to have Anthony Sinclair teaching our staff BSL while also promoting Deaf Awareness and identifying more ways we can make our shows more accessible. With every Lyric produced production, we aim to run at least one captioned performance which are listed on our accessibility page. Thank you to Anthony and Sign Source Learning for helping us improve our accessibility, giving our team the chance to learn a new skill and helping us make the Lyric a more welcoming place for all.

Increasing popularity

British Sign Language is increasing in popularity. During the pandemic, thousands signed up with us to learn a new skill. With more organisations recognising the value of diverse, inclusive and welcoming workplaces, there has never been a better time to learn BSL.

Can’t find what you are looking for? We will create it, tailor it to your budget and promise to ensure learning is interactive and fun.

Broad appeal

As our business grows and develops, more sectors are coming on board. We’re working in areas such as sport, theatre, the arts, hospitality, health, medicine, social care and many more. Whether you want to introduce sign language to your friends and family, students, office colleagues, business, or corporation; we provide all the tools and options required.

Sign Source would like to partner with and forge new connections with forward thinking individuals, groups, and organisations. If you have a genuine interest in diversity, inclusivity, accessibility and improving experiences for deaf people, we’d love to begin a conversation.

Learn For Free

At Sign Source, we aim to become a leading resource for parents of deaf children throughout the UK to access free BSL courses.

Currently, parents of a deaf child have limited support to learn BSL and have to find their own funding and with limited government support this can be expensive.

These costs are unfair, and we are looking at ways to provide free placements and mentoring to support families with a deaf child through income generated by our work in other sectors.

Corporate social responsibility at its best.

Business, education, and other sectors leaning in to include the deaf community, embrace its culture, reduce social isolation, and promote mental well-being.

Sign Source is turning this into a campaign.
